NEWSLETTER JUNE 2020

The Bear Awakes from Hibernation!

Bear Publications must have seemed to be sleeping—this wasn't quite so, though we did have a lull in completing projects from the fall of 2019 through the spring of 2020. We also had some financial hardships, but things are looking up.

Here's what we've already released early in 2020!

Animal Eye: A gamelit adventure

Animal Eye by Cindy Koepp

This GameLit story imagines what it would be like if you were to play a massive online video game of the future—one that lets you play as animal companions to human players (NPCs). Fictional players in virtual reality rigs fly like birds, smell (visually) like a dog, and do numerous other things from an animal's perspective.

Worlds of Weinbaum

Stanley G. Weinbaum was arguably the greatest science fiction writer of the 1930s. His tales of exploration of the Solar System have the zest and excitement of the exploration of Planet Earth by early aircraft. Weinbaum created the first realistic aliens in science fiction and they remain memorable and interesting, especially since we've placed them in a new setting.

If you love classic but enduring sci-fi, this is a book for you!

Orbitas Miticas Volume 1 (Portuguese Edition)

Órbitas Míticas Vol.1
(Portuguese Edition)

At Bear Publications we believe great science fiction isn't limited to an English-speaking audience. Our ambitions to translate the work of great Christian authors of science fiction into other languages are vast, but our resources have been limited. But after three years of ups and downs, mostly over problems with proofreading Portuguese, finally, the book we published as Mythic Orbits 2016 is now available for audiences in Brazil and the rest of the Portuguese-speaking world in Órbitas Míticas Volume I . Please pray for us that we can successfully open up this market for great speculative fiction works by Christian authors.

The Balphrahn Series.

We've given Wendy Blanton's lovely book Dawn Before the Dark a second edition, with a sharper cover, the addition of a map, and other updates.

This tale is about a world of dragon riders, where an ancient curse allows men to perform magic—but not fly dragons, whereas women can fly dragons but can’t perform magic.

The scene is turned upside-down by Briant, a young man who can both ride dragons and do magic—for reasons the story explores. An epic battle with a necromancer ensues— If you like dragon riders in epic fantasy, check it out!!

God is good and as He enables us, we will continue to deliver the best speculative fiction by Christian authors or with Christian themes we can find. We're looking forward to what God will do for us and us for you.
